As of April 15th, 2023, users working on SmartClient must use a VPN to connect to SmartClient.
This article will go over some common troubleshooting scenarios.
How to tell if your VPN is running.
Quikstor Support uses FortiClient VPN when configuring your VPN. All support in this article is specific to this program.
On the bottom-right corner of your screen, select the Arrow pointing up to access the Action Center to check if the VPN client is running. You are looking for a blue shield icon with a checkmark on it.
If the icon is not there, go to your desktop and look for the FortiClient VPN icon. Click on it to open and log in with your password for SmartClient. You should be connected. If you are still having issues connecting to the SmartClient server, please reach out to Quikstor Support.
How to tell if your VPN is connected
An active VPN must be running to connect to our SmartClient server. On the bottom-right corner of your screen, select the Arrow pointing up to access the Action Center to check if the VPN client is running. You are looking for a blue shield icon with a checkmark on it and a lock icon overlaying that. If the lock icon overlaps the blue shield icon, you are connected and should reach out to Quikstor Support if you are having issues connecting.

If the lock icon does not overlap the blue shield icon, you are not connected. Please right-click, select "Connect to SmartClient VPN," then enter your SmartClient password on the next opened window.
If you do not see an icon, please select the FortiClient VPN icon from your desktop to open it and log in using your SmartClient credentials.
Connecting to the correct host in Remote Desktop Connection
Once you have ensured that you are connected to the VPN. Open the Remote Desktop Connection application. Enter the following "10.10.10.12" in the Computer field and your credentials when prompted.
You may receive a warning: The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?
Check the box: Don't ask me again for connections to this computer
click yes and the connection will be made
